While Manchester United fans have been buzzing about potential moves for players like Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt, a familiar name from the January window has resurfaced. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Red Devils held initial talks with Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams earlier this year.

The discussions, however, were reportedly focused on a summer transfer rather than a mid-season acquisition. This strategic approach means United could easily reopen negotiations in the coming weeks as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his midfield options.

Adams' connection to Old Trafford comes with a bittersweet personal history. Earlier this season, during Bournemouth's thrilling 4-4 draw at the Theatre of Dreams, the USMNT star suffered a gut-wrenching setback, tearing a knee ligament and being substituted within just five minutes. Reflecting on the injury, Adams later shared his disappointment, stating, "You dream of nights playing at Old Trafford against Man United. Those are the biggest games you can play in the Premier League."

Meanwhile, another Bournemouth talent has caught the eye of Premier League giants. Following a standout performance against Arsenal last weekend, midfielder Alex Scott has also been linked with a move to Manchester United. The 22-year-old sealed a massive away win for the Cherries with a superb finish and was deservedly named Man of the Match for his all-action display.

Scott, who joined Bournemouth for £25 million from Bristol City last summer, chose the south coast to gain vital Premier League experience. That bet has paid off, as he has now amassed over 75 top-flight appearances, showcasing the maturity and skill that makes him an attractive prospect for clubs like United looking to build for the future.

As the summer transfer window heats up, it's clear United's midfield search is looking beyond the usual headlines, with proven Premier League performers like Adams and rising stars like Scott on their radar.
