Chris Pronger is the only NHL defenseman since 1972 to win the Hart Trophy. He addresses a wide range of topics, including NHL management, while promoting his new book.

Chris Pronger hasn't laced up his skates for an NHL game in over 15 years, but his presence in the hockey world is stronger than ever. The Hall of Fame defenseman, a unique talent who remains the only blueliner since 1972 to win the Hart Trophy as league MVP, is currently making the media rounds. He's promoting his highly anticipated new book, 'Earned: The True Cost of Greatness from One of Hockey’s Fiercest Competitors,' set for release on Tuesday, April 14th.

The book project grew naturally from Pronger's work as a corporate speaker. "As I began to build out my speaking platform," Pronger explained, "I realized I needed a signature piece, a book, to accompany my talking points. I started thinking about the framework and the impact I wanted people to get from my story. The book is part memoir, part life lessons gleaned from my career, all aimed at pushing people to reach their next level and become difference-makers."

His credentials for dispensing such lessons are impeccable. Pronger's legendary career is a testament to dominance at both ends of the ice, featuring a Stanley Cup championship with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007, that historic Hart Trophy, and two Olympic gold medals with Team Canada. Renowned as one of the game's most feared physical presences and a captain for three different franchises, his sharp, articulate mind has seamlessly transitioned to life after playing.

Following a career cut short by injury, Pronger gained valuable front-office experience, working with the NHL's Department of Player Safety and later with the Florida Panthers. Now, with his increased visibility through TV analysis roles on Prime Video and Sportsnet, his name is frequently mentioned as a prime candidate for NHL management openings. "I learned a lot," Pronger said of his front-office stints, acknowledging the speculation while focusing on his current projects. His multifaceted post-playing career continues to prove that his competitive drive and hockey IQ are assets that transcend the ice.
