The San Francisco 49ers have added some talented veterans and intriguing rookies this offseason, and one analyst used one word to describe the moves.

The San Francisco 49ers entered the 2026 offseason with a clear mission: patch up the holes that kept a 12-5 playoff-winning team from reaching its full potential. And according to one NFL analyst, they've done exactly that—using just one word to describe the team's moves: complete.

CBS Sports' Zachary Pereles summed up the 49ers' approach succinctly, noting that despite last season's success, the roster had glaring gaps—some persistent, others caused by injuries. General manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan responded by adding a mix of proven veterans and promising rookies.

The headline additions are hard to miss. Wide receivers Mike Evans and Christian Kirk bring a proven downfield threat and reliable hands to support quarterback Brock Purdy, who thrives on giving his targets chances. Evans, in particular, is the kind of "ball winner" that can transform an offense. On the defensive side, the trade for lineman Osa Odighizuwa adds much-needed muscle to a front that struggled to generate pressure. Factor in the healthy returns of Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams, plus Dre Greenlaw rejoining Fred Warner at linebacker, and suddenly a defense that ranked among the NFL's worst in pass rush looks far more formidable.

The rookie class also offers immediate potential. Second-round pick De'Zhaun Stribling might have raised eyebrows at No. 33, but Pereles believes he can contribute right away—a crucial factor as the team balances veteran leadership with youth development.

Of course, no offseason is perfect. Left guard remains a question mark, with free agents Robert Jones and Brett Toth, fourth-rounder Carver Willis, and 2025 seventh-round pick Connor Colby all competing for the starting job. None have a proven track record as a full-time starter, leaving a potential weak spot on the offensive line.

Still, when you add a trio like Evans, Kirk, and Odighizuwa to a roster that already won a playoff game despite its flaws, it's easy to see why "complete" feels like the right word. For 49ers fans, this offseason might just be the foundation for something special.
