As the NFL offseason shifts from free agency to minicamps and training camp preparations, the 2026 season is taking shape—but several notable free agents remain unsigned. Among them is former All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who spent the 2025 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens and is now weighing his next move.
Hopkins has made it clear he wants to stay in the AFC North, though not with the Ravens. Instead, reports indicate he's eager to join the Cincinnati Bengals and line up alongside quarterback Joe Burrow. While the 33-year-old may not be the same dominant force he was in his prime, he remains a reliable pass catcher who can move the chains and provide veteran leadership in the locker room.
If Hopkins is willing to take a significant pay cut—Cincinnati currently has among the least salary cap space in the league—he would join a receiving corps headlined by Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Adding a player of Hopkins' caliber to that group, alongside depth contributors like Andrei Iosivas and Charlie Jones, would instantly give the Bengals one of the most dangerous offenses in the league.
The Bengals have missed the playoffs in each of the past three seasons, largely due to Joe Burrow's injury struggles and inconsistent defensive play. However, the front office has been aggressive this offseason, trading for All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to shore up the trenches. If the defensive line improves and the secondary stabilizes, Cincinnati could take a major step forward on that side of the ball.
Pair that with a Hopkins-infused offense, and the Bengals could quickly re-emerge as Super Bowl contenders in the AFC North. The key question now is whether the organization shares Hopkins' interest—and whether both sides can find a creative way to make a team-friendly deal work.
