We're now just days away from the 2026 NFL Draft kicking off in Pittsburgh, but how influential will the New Orleans Saints be in this year's event? To put it another way, just how valuable are their draft picks -- headlined by the eighth overall selection? Teams use different trade value charts to quantify how much each draft pick is worth, with legendary Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson introducing one model before Pats Pulpit's Rich Hill updated it decades later. That's the version we use.
According to Hill's model, the Saints' first-round pick is valued at 406 points. Their second rounder at No. 42 overall is valued at 142 points. Package them together and that's more than enough to trade up to the third overall pick (worth 514 points). With early-round picks (and, therefore, the players available) valued more highly, there's a rapidly-declining curve before you get to the middle and later rounds. The analysts at Tankathon lumped each team's score together and found the Saints rank twelfth in total value. That's because they've traded away so many of their own picks, like the fourth rounder going to the Denver Broncos in exchange for wide receiver Devaughn Vele.
Here's the value of each 2026 draft pick taken from Hill's trade value chart:
