Since the end of the 2025 season, and focus shifted toward the 2026 NFL Draft, everyone wanted to talk about Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. Who would select Love and how high? Many analysts consider Love to be the top overall player in the class, but positional value could drop him a little lower than most top-ranked players.

One of the favorite prospect-team matches throughout the pre-draft process was Love and the Washington Commanders. Love would share a backfield with quarterback Jayden Daniels, the 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. It's a backfield that had Washington fans salivating at the possibilities.

Reports have indicated that the Commanders "love" Love. However, in recent weeks, it's become increasingly unlikely that Love makes it to the Commanders at No. 7 overall. Many believed the Tennessee Titans would select Love at No. 4 overall, and most mock drafts have reflected that. In recent days, ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Arizona Cardinals, who hold the No. 3 overall pick, were strongly considering Love.

Regardless, Love's chances of falling to Washington were minimal.

Then, on Monday night, ESPN NFL insider Peter Schrager, one of the league's most plugged-in reporters, revealed that he doesn't think Tennessee will select Love at No. 4 now.

"Well, I know I spoke to someone in the organization in Tennessee, and they told me this morning that they have seen six different players tagged to them this morning for their fourth overall pick by people in the media," Schrager said.

"I will say this, I don't think the Titans are taking Jeremiyah Love anymore. I am moving off of that. That was something I had in my mock draft and felt like that was the pick. As we are now four days before it, I do not think the Titans are taking Jeremiyah Love at four. I think the Titans are taking either one of the two following players: Sonny Styles, the linebacker out of Ohio State, or the (David) Bailey/(Arvell) Reese who doesn't go there, or is available. And my third backstop would be Carnell Tate."

Schrager is generally one of the more accurate NFL reporters, particularly as it pertains to the draft. He's close with several coaches and GMs throughout the league. If he is saying that, this strongly, he has it on good authority.

That's good news for Washington. Right? Not necessarily. Love could still go No. 3 to Arizona, or No. 5 to the New York Giants.

Get ready for a wild week. It is lying season, after all.
