BALTIMORE — The NFL announced Friday night that the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys will play in Rio de Janeiro this season, as The Baltimore Sun previously reported earlier this month.
The Sept. 27 game will take place in Week 3 at Maracanã Stadium, site of the 2016 Olympic Games.
It is one of nine international games slated for this season. It’s also the third straight year the NFL will play a game in Brazil after traveling to Sao Paulo in 2024 with a game between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles and a 2025 contest between the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs.
For the Ravens, it will be their third international game in franchise history.
Their first came in 2017 at Wembley Stadium in London, where they were on the business end of a 44-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 2023, they beat the Tennessee Titans at Tottenham Stadium in London, 24-16.
The Cowboys have only played once internationally during the regular season. In 2014, they beat the Jaguars, 31-17, at Wembley Stadium.
Maracanã Stadium, in addition to hosting the Olympics, was also the site of the 1950 and 2014 FIFA World Cup finals.
Other international locales for games this year include Paris, Munich, Madrid and London, which will host three games.
