Neymar apologises to his Santos team-mate Robinho Jr for slapping the teenager during a training session on Sunday, saying he "crossed the line".

In a moment of raw emotion that reminded us all that even the world's best players are human, Neymar has publicly apologized to Santos teammate Robinho Jr. after slapping the 18-year-old during a training session. The incident, which occurred on Sunday at the Rei Pele Training Centre, has since been resolved, with both players confirming the air is clear.

The altercation reportedly happened after Robinho Jr. dribbled past Neymar during a drill, prompting the 34-year-old superstar to react in frustration. "I crossed the line," Neymar admitted, acknowledging that his response was excessive. "If you want an apology in front of the media, here it is."

Santos opened an investigation into the matter, but by Tuesday, the club confirmed it was "all sorted." The peace was visibly sealed during Santos' 1-1 draw with Recoleta in the Copa Sudamericana, when Neymar scored and immediately embraced Robinho Jr.—the son of his former Brazil teammate and ex-Manchester City star Robinho—who had come on as a substitute.

"I did overreact, yes, in the way I reacted. It could have been different but I ended up losing my head," Neymar explained. "Everyone makes mistakes. It was my mistake, his mistake, I made a slightly bigger mistake. He's a boy I like very much, for whom I have a special affection. It happens in football—you argue with your friend, your brother. That's football, it's part of the game."

For his part, Robinho Jr. revealed that Neymar "realised straight away that he'd gone too far" and apologized "several times." The young forward, who grew up idolizing Neymar—Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer with 79 goals—admitted the situation was difficult. "It was a situation that upset me because he has been my idol since I was a child. People around us say a lot of things that aren't true and it's sad to see it blow up to this level. But I'm fine, I like him a lot. We've already talked and it's all sorted."

This incident serves as a reminder that even in the high-stakes world of professional football, moments of tension can arise between teammates—but what matters most is how they're resolved. For fans and players alike, it's a lesson in accountability, forgiveness, and the enduring bonds that make the beautiful game so compelling.
