The New York Yankees are hitting the road for a crucial three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles, kicking off the week with a much-needed East Coast showdown. While the American League in 2026 has been, for the most part, underwhelming, the Yankees have largely escaped that label—unlike their upcoming opponents. Baltimore sits at 18-23, already nine games back in the division and staring down a forgettable season reminiscent of their 2025 campaign, which came after two straight postseason appearances.
For the Yankees, this series couldn't come at a better time. After a red-hot start to May, they were swept by the Milwaukee Brewers and have slipped out of first place, overtaken by the surging Tampa Bay Rays. To regain their footing in the AL East, they'll need to take full advantage of a struggling Orioles squad.
Monday: Ryan Weathers vs. Brandon Young (6:35 pm ET)
Left-hander Ryan Weathers gets the ball to open the series, and his first season in pinstripes has been a solid one—despite some ups and downs. Over 38.2 innings, Weathers has posted a 3.03 ERA and 3.60 FIP, striking out more than a batter per inning. He faced Baltimore in his last start and delivered five scoreless frames with five strikeouts. He's also completed at least five innings in each of his last five outings, a streak he'll look to extend.
On the mound for Baltimore is 27-year-old Brandon Young, a rookie last season who struggled to a 6+ ERA in 12 starts. This year, he's shown improvement, splitting time between Triple-A and the majors. In his most recent outing, he battled through six innings against the Marlins, allowing three runs while striking out five.
Tuesday: Will Warren vs. TBD (6:35 pm ET)
Will Warren takes the hill on Tuesday, and 2026 has been largely terrific for him—except for his last start, which was his only rough outing of the season. He'll be eager to bounce back and keep the Yankees rolling against an Orioles lineup that has struggled to find consistency.
