The 2026 NFL Draft is just around the corner, kicking off on April 23rd, and the New York Jets are in a prime position to reshape their roster. After a tough 3-14 season, they hold the coveted No. 2 overall pick, along with the 16th pick acquired from the Indianapolis Colts in the Sauce Gardner trade.

While most mock drafts have the Jets targeting an elite pass-rusher like Ohio State's Arvell Reese or Texas Tech's David Bailey with that second pick, the intrigue builds with their later selections. According to NFL insider Tony Pauline of Essentially Sports, one name generating serious buzz in the Jets' war room is Arizona's versatile defensive back, Treydan Stukes.

Stukes has seen his draft stock skyrocket since the end of his college season, transforming from a Day 3 prospect into a potential early Day 2 pick. Pauline notes that the Jets "think highly" of him as a safety, a position of need for a defense looking to add dynamic playmakers. His athletic testing only solidifies the hype: a blistering 4.38-second 40-yard dash and a 38-inch vertical leap at the NFL Scouting Combine showcase the kind of explosive talent that can change games.

What makes Stukes particularly valuable is his positional flexibility. He has extensive experience at safety, nickel corner, and outside corner, and scouts believe he can contribute at all three spots in the NFL. While the safety class is led by top prospects like Caleb Downs and Dillon Thieneman, some teams reportedly grade Stukes as the third-best safety, while others see him as the draft's premier nickel back.

With the 33rd and 44th overall picks in the second round, the Jets have the perfect ammunition to secure a rising talent. If they address their pass rush early, keep an eye on Treydan Stukes as a potential target to instantly upgrade their secondary with a versatile, high-flying defender.
