Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft was completed on Thursday, as the New Orleans Saints selected Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson at pick No. 8. Now, all eyes turned to their second round selection at pick No. 42, and whether or not they would build on the defense for the future as well. With that selection, they did end up choosing a defensive player, adding Georgia nose tackle Christen Miller to the fold.
Miller joins Davon Godchaux and Vernon Broughton on the interior defensive line as a likely incumbent starter in the near future. With the Saints looking to beef up their run defense in 2026 and beyond, Miller is a perfect player to add if they want to really run some larger fronts against gap rushing. At 6-foot-4, 305 pounds, he has great size for an interior lineman, and he will certainly factor into this defensive unit sooner rather than later.
