One of WWE's most decorated and legendary tag-teams has reportedly parted ways with the company.

The world of professional wrestling just experienced a seismic shift. One of WWE's most iconic and successful tag teams of all time, The New Day, has reportedly parted ways with the company, ending a legendary 16-year run that redefined tag team wrestling.

In a development that has sent shockwaves through the WWE Universe, Fightful and Bodyslam reported on Saturday that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods "mutually decided" to leave the company. The news broke less than 24 hours after both superstars were moved to WWE's official "Alumni" page—a clear signal that their time with the organization had come to an end.

The departures don't stop there. As part of WWE's post-WrestleMania roster reset, MFT faction members JC Mateo and Tonga Loa have also been released, adding to an already staggering list of talent cuts following WrestleMania 42.

Let's put this in perspective: Kingston has been a main roster fixture since 2008, while Woods joined the main roster in 2013. Together with the now-retired Big E, they formed The New Day in 2014 and proceeded to achieve the most dominant tag team run in modern WWE history. Their resume is nothing short of extraordinary—a record 13 tag team championship reigns, including an unprecedented 483-day run as Raw Tag Team Champions. Both Kingston and Big E would go on to capture the WWE Championship as singles competitors, fueled by the group's incredible chemistry and a fan base that turned "New Day Rocks" into a global anthem.

The journey took a dramatic turn in 2022 when a neck injury forced Big E to step away from in-ring competition. Kingston and Woods continued as a duo, but the landscape shifted again in late 2024 when they turned heel during their emotional 10-year anniversary celebration—a moment that left fans stunned and signaled a new chapter for the beloved trio.

As for JC Mateo and Tonga Loa, their time in WWE was brief but impactful. Mateo joined in 2025 and Loa in 2024, but they now find themselves part of a massive wave of roster cuts that includes Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, the entire Wyatt Sicks faction, and both members of the Motor City Machine Guns.

For fans who have followed The New Day's journey from their early days as a fledgling group to becoming the most decorated tag team in WWE history, this news marks the end of an era. Their legacy, however, will live on in every "New Day Rocks" chant and every unforgettable moment they created inside the squared circle.
