Brooklyn Nets superfan Bruce "Mr. Whammy" Reznick is known for bringing energy to every game, and now he's getting a chance to bring that same spirit to one of the most pivotal events of the NBA offseason. Earlier this week, Nets governor Joe Tsai announced that Reznick has been invited to attend the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery, a move that has thrilled the entire Nets fanbase.

While NBA rules prevent Reznick from sitting on Brooklyn's official podium, his presence alone is enough to get fans excited about the team's lottery chances. "If I only knew. I just got a call that they selected me," Reznick told CJ Holmes of the New York Daily News when asked how the invitation came about. Tsai made the announcement Monday on his X account, revealing that Reznick will be heading to Chicago, Illinois, on May 10 for the lottery. The hope is that "Mr. Whammy" can work his magic and bring some much-needed luck to the franchise this summer.

For Reznick, this invitation is deeply personal. "Lemme tell you, my wife is up in heaven for two years. We never missed a game from Jersey to Brooklyn in 30 years. She'll take care of that to make sure we get some players that can really help us greatly," he shared, reflecting on the fandom he and his late wife, Judy, shared. "As far as I'm concerned, we're a world champion every game, every year. I love them. If they lose, I love them. If they win, I love them."

The Nets finished the 2025-26 season with the third-worst record in the league at 20-62, tying them with the Washington Wizards and Indiana Pacers for the highest odds of landing the No. 1 overall pick (14.0%). That top selection could be a game-changer, with generational talents like BYU forward AJ Dybantsa, Kansas guard Darryn Peterson, and Duke forward Cameron Boozer all in the mix. Brooklyn's biggest hope is to stay in the top three and secure one of these future stars.

Last year's lottery was a tough lesson for the Nets. Entering with the sixth-worst record, they dropped two spots to the eighth overall pick, which they used on BYU guard Egor Demin. This time around, the stakes are even higher. Brooklyn could land the No. 1 pick, but they could also fall as far as No. 7. With "Mr. Whammy" in the room, fans are hoping for a little bit of luck to tip the scales in their favor.
