Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Egor Demin is already setting his sights on a pivotal offseason—one he believes could define the trajectory of his young NBA career.
The 20-year-old guard showed flashes of brilliance during the 2025-26 season, averaging 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting an impressive 38.5% from beyond the arc. His season was cut short in March due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, but Demin is already thinking ahead.
"I think this summer is probably one of the most important summers in my life," Demin said. "To be able to go from a rookie season where I didn't have anything over the summer—it's huge."
Demin's journey to the NBA has been anything but conventional. He transitioned from professional basketball in Spain to BYU two years ago, then made the leap to Brooklyn last year. With the draft, pre-draft workouts, and his foot injury, last summer was anything but restful.
"It's hard to call last summer a real summer," he explained. "But I'm really excited about this one. It started now. Not many players get an opportunity to prepare like this before they actually start summer workouts."
Despite his shortened season, Demin made 124 three-pointers—ranking fourth among all rookies, trailing only Kon Knueppel, VJ Edgecombe, and Ace Bailey. His long-range shooting was a bright spot for the Nets, and he proved he belongs at this level.
Now, with a healthy summer ahead, Demin is focused on growth. For a player who's already shown significant potential, this offseason could be the one that takes his game—and his career—to the next level.
