Nelly Korda has putted magnificently during the first two rounds of The Chevron Championship this week.

Korda has taken just 51 putts through 36 holes so far, and she holds a six-stroke lead over Patty Tavatanakit heading into the weekend at The Chevron Championship.

The 27-year-old from Bradenton, Florida, is swinging the golf club incredibly well, in addition to putting lights out.

So Korda could be extremely difficult to beat at The Chevron Championship this week.

Korda is a big fan of the Chevron Championship golf course, with her length off the tee proving to be a real advantage given the soft conditions on such a long layout.

However, it is her putting that has enabled her to separate herself from the field after 36 holes in Houston.

Korda has historically struggled with her putting over the past few years, especially during the biggest and most important events.

However, things began to change on the greens for Korda after she met with Scottie Scheffler‘s putting coach – Phil Kenyon – towards the end of last year.

She currently works with David Angelotti on her putting, and that relationship was set up by Kenyon.

The world number two spoke to reporters after her second round at The Chevron Championship and responded when asked what she has been working on with Angelotti.

“Since the end of last year. You know, what we really work on is the simple stuff: Reading the greens; starting it over my start target,“ Korda said.

“He’s finally someone that’s giving my putting practice a sense of structure. Everything I do is very structured with him.

“I feel like there is no grey area. It’s black and white. For me there is a calm in whatever we do together that I know it’s this and that.“

She then revealed something Kenyon told her immediately after watching her putt for the first time.

“I actually reached out to Phil Kenyon and originally Phil — I was left-hand low and the week of Cincinnati Phil looked at my putting and told me I need to go back to conventional,“ she explained.

“The week of the event. I was like, okay, I’ve been left-hand low for a really long time. We’ll see how it goes.

“It worked out and Phil is just so busy that he recommended David. I went up to Sea Island to see David after that stretch of events and have worked with him since, with Phil occasionally looking over stuff.“

Ever since that first meeting with Kenyon, the 27-year-old has stuck to the conventional putting grip.

Nelly Korda has won once already this year and is in a fantastic position to record her second victory of 2026 at The Chevron Championship.
