The Nebraska Cornhuskers are making a major play on the recruiting trail, as four-star safety Mekhi Williams has scheduled an official visit to Lincoln this June. The 2027 prospect, who committed to Florida State on March 26, 2025, is now exploring his options with a busy summer itinerary ahead.
Ranked as the 178th overall player in the 2027 class by Rivals Industry Rankings, Williams is also the 14th-best safety nationally and the 20th-ranked recruit from the talent-rich state of Florida. His recruitment tour kicks off with a stop at Wisconsin on May 29, followed by a return to his current commitment at Florida State on June 5. The key date for Nebraska fans? June 12, when Williams will visit Lincoln. He'll wrap up the month with a trip to LSU on June 19.
This isn't Williams' first look at the Huskers—he previously visited campus on March 7. Nebraska's 2027 recruiting class is already making noise, ranking 15th nationally per Rivals Industry Rankings. The class features four blue-chip commitments, headlined by safety Tory Pittman and quarterback Trae Taylor.
A flip from Williams would be a massive win for Nebraska's secondary, which has been revitalized under defensive backs coach Addison Williams. Adding another top-tier talent from the Sunshine State would further solidify the Huskers' reputation as a destination for elite defensive backs. With his official visit set, all eyes will be on Lincoln this June.
