Nebraska basketball has secured a major piece for its 2025-26 frontcourt, landing a commitment from Boston College transfer center Boden Kapke. The 6-foot-11 junior announced his decision to join Fred Hoiberg's Huskers via social media, providing a crucial answer in the post for a team facing significant departures.

Kapke arrives in Lincoln after a breakout season with the Eagles, where he emerged as one of the ACC's most productive centers during conference play. He averaged 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game overall, but elevated his game against league opponents, posting 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 49% from the field. His versatility is a key asset; he's not just a traditional back-to-the-basket big, having connected on 33% of his three-point attempts this past season.

His scoring prowess was on full display down the stretch, as he scored in double figures in his final five regular-season games. The highlight was a career-high 25-point explosion against Virginia Tech, where he showcased his inside-out game by hitting 11-of-18 shots, including three triples, while grabbing eight rebounds.

This addition couldn't be more timely for Nebraska. The Huskers are tasked with replacing the production of graduated senior Reink Mast and portal-bound junior Berke Buyuktuncel, a duo that combined for nearly 20 points and 11 rebounds per game. Kapke's experience, size, and scoring touch make him a prime candidate to step into that void immediately.

Kapke isn't the only new frontcourt weapon heading to Lincoln. His commitment follows last week's addition of Belmont transfer Sam Orme, a 6-foot-10 forward who was a Second-Team All-Missouri Valley selection. Orme, a 39.7% three-point shooter, provides the kind of floor-spacing ability that is perfect for Hoiberg's offensive system. The Huskers moved quickly to secure Orme after his coach departed for Kansas State, beating out the Wildcats for his signature.

Together, Kapke and Orme represent a strategic and successful portal haul for Hoiberg. They address the team's most pressing need with players whose skillsets—Kapke's interior presence and Orme's perimeter shooting—complement each other perfectly. For a Nebraska program looking to build on its recent momentum, securing these two impact transfers is a significant win that reshapes their roster for the season ahead.
