The 6-foot-9 forward was a mainstay for Nebraska this past season, starting 33 of 35 games. While his averages of 6.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game might seem modest, Büyüktuncel's impact was multifaceted. He showcased his versatile skill set by recording the fourth triple-double in school history—a 12-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist masterpiece against North Dakota—and swatted away 34 shots on the season.

His value was particularly evident in the NCAA Tournament, where he stepped up to average a team-high 7.0 rebounds along with 7.7 points per game.
