Big news is brewing in the Nebraska basketball program as the Cornhuskers eye a major addition to their 2027 recruiting class. Talented small forward Donovan Davis has officially set his commitment date for May 6, and Lincoln is squarely in the mix.

Davis, a four-star prospect from Wisconsin, is ranked as the 81st overall player in the 2027 class according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He also checks in as the 18th-best small forward nationally and the No. 2 player from his home state. Standing 6-foot-7, the playmaker has the size and skill set that could make an immediate impact at the college level.

The recruiting battle is heating up, with Iowa State, Iowa, Marquette, and Wisconsin also vying for Davis's commitment. He recently visited Nebraska on April 20, getting a firsthand look at the program and the atmosphere in Lincoln. Just days later, on April 29, he made a trip to Iowa State, keeping the competition tight.

If Davis chooses the Huskers, he would become the second commitment in Nebraska's 2027 class, joining Ty Schlagel. This potential addition is particularly noteworthy given head coach Fred Hoiberg's recent strategy. While Hoiberg and his staff have traditionally built the roster through the transfer portal, a strong 2025-26 season has given them more flexibility to pursue high-caliber high school talent like Davis.

For Nebraska fans, May 6 is a date to circle. Davis's decision could signal a shift in recruiting momentum for the program and add a dynamic piece to their future lineup. Whether he dons the Husker red or heads elsewhere, this is a recruitment worth watching closely.
