Nebraska faced Iowa for its final home game of the regular season. The Huskers capped off their final home game with an 8-6 win over the Hawkeyes.

Nebraska baseball delivered a thrilling finale to its regular-season home schedule, completing a series sweep over Iowa with an 8-6 victory in front of a season-high crowd of 7,948 fans at Hawks Field. The Huskers (37-14, 20-7 Big Ten) showed resilience throughout the game, overcoming an early deficit to send the home crowd home happy.

The action started quickly, with Iowa (29-21, 12-15) striking for two runs in the top of the first inning. But Nebraska responded in style, grabbing the lead in the second and extending it to 5-2 by the third. The Hawkeyes battled back to tie the game in the fifth, setting the stage for a dramatic seventh-inning rally. That's when the Huskers erupted for three runs, proving once again why they're one of the conference's most dangerous teams down the stretch.

Offensively, Nebraska was firing on all cylinders, collecting 12 hits including two home runs. Dylan Carey was the star of the show, going 2-for-4 with a clutch two-run double in that decisive seventh inning. Jett Buck and Will Jesske each added solo home runs, with Buck finishing 2-for-5 on the day. Drew Grego chipped in with two hits and an RBI, while Case Sanderson also notched two hits in a balanced attack.

On the mound, Colin Nowaczyk (2-1) was the key, entering in the sixth and delivering 2.2 innings of relief while striking out five and allowing just one run. Tucker Timmerman earned his first save of the season by closing out the final 1.1 innings, surrendering only one hit. Starter Gavin Blachowicz set the tone early, striking out six over his outing while allowing three hits, three walks, and two runs.

The sweep caps an impressive home stand for Nebraska, which now heads to Omaha for a Tuesday night showdown with Creighton. First pitch is at 6 p.m. CT on Nebraska Public Media, giving Huskers fans another chance to see their team in action before the postseason begins.
