Michigan State football has extended an offer to an intriguing 3-star wide receiver prospect from Texas

Michigan State football is making moves on the recruiting trail, and this time they're looking to the Lone Star State for some offensive firepower. The Spartans have officially extended an offer to Maliek Brown, a three-star wide receiver from Tyler, Texas, who's been turning heads with his athleticism and potential.

Brown announced the offer on his personal social media account, sharing that the news came after a productive conversation with Michigan State wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins. It's a promising sign for the Spartans' recruiting efforts, especially when you consider the kind of talent coming out of Texas high school football these days.

Rated as a three-star prospect with an 87 rating on 247Sports' system, Brown is currently ranked as the No. 103 wide receiver and No. 832 overall prospect in the 2027 class. Those numbers might not scream "five-star superstar" just yet, but in the world of recruiting, rankings can change fast—especially for players with his kind of raw ability.

Brown isn't short on suitors. According to 247Sports, he's already holding offers from nearly 20 programs, including Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, TCU, Texas Tech, and several others. The competition is fierce, but Michigan State's early interest shows they're serious about building a pipeline to Texas talent.

Right now, Louisiana Tech is the only school that's managed to lock in an official visit with Brown. If the Spartans want to stay in the race, expect them to schedule their own visit soon. In the high-stakes world of college football recruiting, timing and relationships are everything—and Michigan State is clearly putting in the work.
