Get ready for double the Friday night lights in East Lansing this season! Michigan State football has officially shifted two of its home games to Friday evenings, giving fans a chance to kick off and wrap up the home slate under the primetime spotlight.

The Spartans will open their 2025 campaign on Friday, September 4, against Toledo, moving the season-opener from its traditional Saturday slot. Then, in a marquee matchup, the final home game of the year against Oregon will take place on Friday, November 20, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET and national broadcast coverage on FOX. The Toledo game's kickoff time has yet to be announced.

This scheduling shift is nothing new for MSU faithful. Opening on the Friday of Labor Day Weekend has become a cherished tradition for the Spartans, dating back to 2011 with only a few exceptions. The trend has been amplified by FOX's new television deal, which has made Friday night conference games more common—Michigan State already played at Oregon and hosted Purdue on Fridays in 2024.

With these additions, the Spartans now have three confirmed primetime games for the upcoming season. Earlier this week, it was announced that the road clash at Notre Dame will also be a night kickoff, setting the stage for a thrilling slate of evening battles.

Whether you're gearing up for the season opener or planning a late-November showdown, it's time to update your calendar—and your game-day wardrobe. Friday nights just got a whole lot more exciting for Spartan fans.
