Boston suffered a 6-5 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.

Morgan Geekie delivered a performance most players dream of, netting a hat trick for the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. Yet, in the somber quiet of the locker room after a 6-5 overtime loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, the personal achievement felt hollow.

"It's always nice, but on days like today, it doesn't really mean anything," Geekie told NESN postgame. "Losses like that are tough to swallow." His three goals, his first since early March, were overshadowed by a frustrating team collapse that saw a 3-2 first-period lead evaporate.

The second period was particularly damaging, as the Hurricanes outscored the Bruins 3-1. Head coach Marco Sturm pinpointed it as the turning point, stating, "We just totally lost control in that second period." While the team rallied to force overtime and secure a critical point in the standings, the taste of a missed opportunity lingered.

Despite the bitter ending, the single point brings the Bruins (43-26-10) closer to officially clinching a playoff spot with just three games left in the regular season. The focus now shifts to regrouping at home, where they'll face another Atlantic Division test against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
