The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are adding serious firepower to their backcourt for the upcoming season. Sharpshooting guard Justin Ray, a transfer from Monmouth University, has officially committed to the program, giving Head Coach Steve Forbes a potent new weapon.

Ray, a 6'3" sophomore with two years of eligibility remaining, is coming off a standout season where he averaged 11.3 points per game. His most valuable skill, however, is his elite three-point shooting. He connected on an impressive 42% of his attempts from deep last year, draining 66 total triples. That mark would have placed him second on the Wake Forest roster, just behind Juke Harris, and highlights his immediate potential to stretch defenses for the Deacs.

Beyond the stats, Ray has proven he can take over a game. He scored a career-high 27 points against Northeastern, showcasing his heat-check ability by knocking down seven three-pointers. He also dropped 25 points in a tough loss to ACC foe Syracuse, demonstrating he can perform against high-major competition.

While primarily known as a lethal spot-up shooter with deep range, Ray is more than just a catch-and-shoot specialist. He possesses the ability to put the ball on the floor and attack closeouts, adding another dimension to his offensive game. Expect him to play a significant role, likely providing a spark off the bench to space the floor and give Wake Forest's offense a consistent outside threat. This addition addresses a key need and bolsters the Deacons' perimeter scoring as they look to make noise in the ACC.
