The Missouri Tigers gymnastics team just made a savvy move in the transfer portal, and it's one that fans of the program have come to expect and love. On Saturday evening, the Tigers secured their first—and likely not last—transfer addition of the offseason: Oregon State grad transfer Jennifer McMillan, a bars and beam specialist who announced her commitment to Mizzou via Instagram.
McMillan, a fifth-year athlete from Charlotte, North Carolina, spent the 2025 season on the sidelines after a season-ending lower body injury and subsequent surgery. She entered the transfer portal on April 6, citing a desire to pursue new academic and athletic opportunities. But don't let the injury fool you—this is a proven performer with serious postseason experience.
During her three years in Corvallis, McMillan was a consistent presence on bars and beam, competing in all 14 meets for the Beavers in both 2024 and 2025. Her career highs are eye-catching: a 9.95 on bars and a 9.925 on beam. In 2025, she posted a 9.845 NQS on bars, with six scores of 9.85 or higher—including a 9.85 at Regional Finals—and a season-opening 9.925. On beam that same year, she notched a 9.860 NQS, with seven scores of 9.85 or higher and two above 9.90.
But it was 2024 that truly showcased her peak form. That season, McMillan earned a stellar 9.915 NQS on bars, featuring 11 scores of 9.85 or higher, three 9.875s (one at NCAA Regionals), four 9.925s (including one at Pac-12 Championships), and a career-best 9.95. On beam, she registered a 9.855 NQS, with five scores of 9.85 or higher, two 9.875s, and a 9.90.
McMillan also brings invaluable postseason experience, having competed on both events at NCAA Regionals as part of a strong Oregon State program. For Mizzou, this addition comes at a critical time. The Tigers are losing key routines on bars from Lauren Macpherson and Makayla Green, as well as beam routines from Macpherson, Amy Wier, and Addi Lawrence. McMillan's ability to slot in immediately on both events makes her a perfect fit.
And here's the thing—Mizzou has a track record of turning transfer specialists into stars. The Tigers have consistently found success with this approach, producing multiple All-Americans from similar moves. If McMillan can return to her 2024 form, she could be the next in that proud tradition. For a team looking to reload rather than rebuild, this is exactly the kind of commitment that keeps the momentum rolling.
