Just two games from Sunday

Sunday's minor league action was a quiet one, with only two games on the slate—but both delivered standout pitching performances worth noting.

First, a quick weather and fire update: Hickory was sidelined due to a clubhouse fire, while Frisco had their game washed out by rain. That left the spotlight on Hub City and Round Rock.

In the Hub City contest, starter D.J. McCarty was electric over six innings, striking out seven batters while surrendering just two solo home runs. Reliever Owen Proksch had a tougher outing, allowing three runs in two innings with three strikeouts, two walks, and another homer. At the plate, Rafe Perich led the charge, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a walk. Yolfran Castillo also contributed two hits, while Paxton Kling and Maxon Martin each reached base multiple times—Kling with a hit and a walk, Martin with a hit and two walks. Gleider Figuereo showed patience with two walks of his own.

Over in Round Rock, the story was all about pitching dominance. Starter Josh Stephan was masterful, tossing five shutout innings while fanning nine and walking just two. Emiliano Teodo followed with two perfect innings of relief, striking out four and throwing 17 of his 27 pitches for strikes. Michel Otanez added a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. The only blemish came from Ryan Brasier, who struck out three but walked one and allowed two runs in his inning of work.

Offensively for Round Rock, Aaron Zavala collected two hits, while Michael Helman had a standout night, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, and a stolen base.

For fans tracking prospects or just enjoying the depth of minor league talent, these games showed the kind of arm strength and plate discipline that make the farm system so exciting. Stay tuned for more updates as the season heats up.
