Early Thursday morning, ESPN NFL reporter Mike Reiss dropped an intriguing development regarding New England’s head coach. Reiss reported that Vrabel won’t be with the Patriots for the final four rounds of the NFL Draft.

The Patriots coach is expected to be with New England when the draft kicks off Thursday in Pittsburgh. Round 1 commences on opening night before Rounds 2 and 3 take place Friday evening.
However, the reason behind Vrabel’s absence continues to shine a negative light on himself and the Patriots organization.
Vrabel’s alleged misconduct with former ESPN and The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini sparked significant conversation about the two having an inappropriate relationship. That situation all stems from a series of photos obtained by Page Six during a Sedona weekend getaway.
Meanwhile, the situation is only growing worse after Page Six dropped bombshell photos Thursday before the 2026 NFL Draft. The new pictures reveal Vrabel and Russini kissing inside a New York City bar back in 2020.

Both figures are in respective marriages, however, Russini actually ended up getting married just months after the newest photos in question came to light. This new report only magnifies the issue for New England prior to one of the biggest days of the NFL offseason.
The Patriots have a long history of negative attention to the franchise. Bill Belichick’s involvement in “SpyGate” previously led to New England being slapped with several NFL sanctions.
Meanwhile, NFL legend Tom Brady suffered similar consequences during the infamous “Deflategate” situation. Brady was accused of deflating footballs and even led to the Patriots being fined $1 million and forfeiting draft picks.
Vrabel’s actions may not be related to what happens on the gridiron, but New England’s checkered past certainly doesn’t bode well for the the franchise. Regardless of your thoughts on Vrabel or the Patriots, New England has always prided itself on being above outside noise.
However, this latest scandal only brings more negative attention to the franchise months after losing in Super Bowl 60.
