When Luke Loucks took the helm at Florida State, the path to building a competitive roster looked very different than it does today. Fast forward to his second season, and the Seminoles' head coach has assembled a signing class that speaks volumes about the program's growth—both on the court and in the fundraising department.

Gone are the days of scrambling for talent. This year, Loucks has secured a productive high-major transfer in Colorado's Sebastian Rancik, a former high-four-star prospect in Cincinnati's Shon Abaev, and a top-15 high-school recruiting class brimming with potential. But perhaps the most electrifying addition is UNC Asheville transfer Kameron Taylor—a player who flew completely under the radar as an unranked high school prospect.

Taylor's rise has been nothing short of meteoric. In just his second collegiate season, he led the Big South Conference in scoring with an impressive 18.9 points per game, earning a well-deserved spot on the all-Big South first team. His breakout performance caught the attention of the Seminoles, who were busy closing out Loucks' debut season with a strong proof of concept that made Tallahassee an appealing destination for a rising star.

Now, FSU has added a proven mid-major scorer with the kind of athleticism that could rewrite program history. Loucks didn't hold back when describing Taylor's potential: "Talking to a UNC Asheville assistant coach, it confirmed what we saw on film—just his explosiveness. Kam might measure out as the most athletic guy that we've ever had in Florida State history. He has an almost 46-inch vertical."

But Taylor's game goes beyond highlight-reel dunks. "What we really liked is his ability to use his athleticism. He can get in the paint, he has great balance, he can finish through contact," Loucks added. The coaching staff also sees untapped shooting potential, comparing Taylor to Rob McCray—another proven scorer whose efficiency improved in FSU's system after shouldering a heavy load elsewhere. "We feel like in our system, similar to Rob, his efficiency is going to get better. We're really excited about Kam's potential."

For Seminoles fans, Taylor represents more than just a transfer addition. He's a dynamic element that could elevate Florida State's offense to new heights—and a reminder that sometimes the biggest stars come from the most unexpected places.
