Middle Tennessee Christian School is turning a new page in its girls basketball program, announcing the hiring of Kobe Davis as the Lady Cougars' new head coach. Davis, who spent the past three seasons as a girls assistant at Nashville Christian School, brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the team.

"I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead this program," Davis said in a school release. "I look forward to building strong relationships with our players, helping them grow both on and off the court, and building a program that our school and MTCS community can be proud of. We want this program to be grounded in faith, character, and purpose, using basketball as a way to positively impact the lives of our players and those around us."

Davis steps into a role with big shoes to fill, replacing Shala Ferrell, who led the Lady Cougars to an impressive 26-6 record, a district championship, and a region runner-up finish in her lone season before resigning in April. The program has seen turnover at the helm, with Davis becoming the third girls coach in three years—following Ferrell and Hannah Jones, who now coaches at Stewarts Creek.

Before his time at Nashville Christian, Davis served as a boys assistant for a year and also coached middle school golf, baseball, and volleyball, showcasing his versatility and commitment to developing young athletes. His own basketball journey began in Bloomington, Indiana, where he graduated high school in 2019 before playing college basketball at Harding University.

At Nashville Christian, Davis helped guide the girls team to a 19-13 record and a DII-A state round of 12 berth in the 2025-26 season—a testament to his ability to build competitive, cohesive teams.

"We are excited to welcome Kobe Davis to the MTCS community as our new girls basketball coach," said athletic director Jason Piercey. "His passion for the game, commitment to excellence, and dedication to developing student-athletes both on and off the court will strengthen our program and help prepare our athletes for success in every area of life."

For a program in transition, Davis's arrival signals a commitment to stability and growth—both on the scoreboard and in the lives of his players. Whether you're a Lady Cougars fan or just love the game, this is a coaching hire worth watching.
