Football is back in Ann Arbor! The Michigan Wolverines are set to take the field at the Big House this Saturday for the annual Maize vs. Blue spring game, offering fans their first glimpse of the new era under head coach Kyle Whittingham.
After 14 closed practices this spring, the team's 15th session will be an open scrimmage under the lights of Michigan Stadium. While the coaching staff has indicated several key players will be held out, this game is a crucial opportunity to see the new offensive and defensive schemes in action and for emerging talent to make a statement.
All eyes will be on quarterback Bryce Underwood, the highly-touted signal-caller expected to see limited action. According to Big Ten Network's Jake Butt, Underwood is slated to play for both the Maize and Blue teams during the first quarter, giving everyone a preview of the future.
Mark your calendars and get ready. The action kicks off at approximately 2:15 PM ET this Saturday, April 18th, with coverage and warmups beginning at 2 PM on the Big Ten Network.
Planning your visit? Gates are open to the public, and so is parking on a first-come, first-served basis. The university has announced that any available parking in the official lots around Michigan Stadium will be free, opening at 7 AM. Be advised, these are expected to fill up quickly, and parking at the U-M and AAGO golf courses will not be available as it is on regular game days.
Additional free public parking options include the Maize Lots on S. State Street (south of the stadium) and University Lots W32, W39, & W40 at S. Fifth Ave. & John Street, including the Thompson Street Structure to the north. Arrive early to secure your spot and get the best seat in the house for this exciting preview of Michigan Football.
