Choosing a college is never easy, but for four-star athlete Gideon Gash, the decision is made even tougher by a family divided by one of college football's fiercest rivalries.

The Gash household has long been split between Michigan and Michigan State. Oldest brother Isaiah made his mark in Ann Arbor—playing a key role in the Wolverines' dramatic 2022 win over Illinois (even if kicker Jake Moody got the game ball). Meanwhile, brothers Caleb and Samson chose the green and white of East Lansing.

Now it's Gideon's turn. The 2027 standout from Detroit Catholic Central has trimmed his list to six: Michigan, Michigan State, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. Speaking at an Under Armour camp in Columbus, Ohio, Gash opened up about the weight of his recruitment.

"It's gonna be tough. It's going to be a super tough decision," Gash admitted. "Just trying to find the best culture, the best place for me. Because I feel like everyone's looking for something just a tad bit different. I'm trying to decipher what that is. If I can get on the field early and it really just feels like home—it's going to be a little bit of a gut feeling. I have a sports family, so they've all kind of processed this too. My mom always tells me, just go with your gut."

Interestingly, Gash had previously closed the door on Michigan due to lack of communication. But the Wolverines staff has since turned up the heat, and a trip to Ann Arbor could be on the horizon.

At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Gash is the kind of versatile athlete that makes recruiters salivate. Rivals ranks him as the No. 61 player in the country regardless of position. Scouting reports praise his rare combination of size, athleticism, and positional flexibility—he could realistically line up at receiver, cornerback, or safety at the next level.

"Gash is the epitome of an athlete prospect," says Rivals' Charles Power. "He has the potential to play upwards of maybe five positions at the college level just with his combination of size and athleticism. He shows very good overall athleticism and just ability to make big plays. He's a lockdown defender and really has outstanding cover skills for such a big prospect."

With his blend of raw talent, football pedigree, and a family legacy split between two bitter rivals, Gideon Gash's recruitment is shaping up to be one of the most compelling storylines in the 2027 class. All eyes will be on where this talented athlete decides to call home.
