Michigan basketball is taking its talents to the national stage. Head coach Dusty May has been selected to serve as an assistant court coach during the opening phase of training camp for the 2026 U.S. Men's U18 National Team, the Wolverines announced Friday.

May will be joined in this role by longtime Oakland University coach Greg Kampe, marking the first USA Basketball coaching experience for both. The training camp, set to kick off May 21 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, will help shape the 12-player roster that will compete at the 2026 FIBA U18 AmeriCup from June 1-7 in Leon, Mexico.

This is a significant opportunity for May, who is building momentum in Ann Arbor after leading the Wolverines to a strong season. The national team camp also highlights Michigan's growing presence in the basketball landscape, though no current Wolverines made the 35-player participation list for this year's camp.

Interestingly, the camp will feature a pair of incoming Michigan State freshmen—center Ethan Taylor and guard Jasiah Jervis—adding a touch of in-state rivalry to the proceedings. Last year, Michigan's Morez Johnson Jr. starred on the gold medal-winning U19 team in Switzerland, while incoming guard Trey McKenney opted to skip tryouts to get an early start with the Wolverines' program.
