The Tar Heels have some spots to fill next season.

In a tough break for new North Carolina head coach Michael Malone, the Tar Heels have lost a key piece of their incoming transfer class. Four-star forward Maxim Logue, who committed to UNC just last week from FAU, has decided not to join the program, per Inside Carolina.

Logue, a 6-foot-9 French national, was expected to provide frontcourt depth. He averaged 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds off the bench for the Owls last season, shooting an efficient 67.4% from the field. Still adjusting to life in the U.S., Logue has international experience from U16, U17, and U18 European competitions.

This setback leaves Malone with just 10 players on the roster, four of whom came through the transfer portal. With fewer options remaining in the portal, the Tar Heels need to move quickly to fill the gaps.

One potential target? Former Iowa State standout Milan Momcilovic. The power forward averaged 16.9 points and 3.1 rebounds for the Cyclones last season and could be a solid addition to the UNC lineup.

Meanwhile, Malone is currently recruiting in Spain, with a top priority of keeping five-star center Sayon Keita committed. The 7-foot-18-year-old plays for FC Barcelona and is considered one of the top international prospects in basketball. Keeping him in the fold would be a major win for the Tar Heels as they look to build a competitive roster for next season.

With the portal window narrowing and roster spots to fill, all eyes are on Malone's next move. Will he lock down a big-name transfer or lean on international recruiting to round out the team? One thing's for sure: the pressure is on in Chapel Hill.
