The Mitchell High School boys tennis team put on a dominant display at Hitchcock Park on Friday, sweeping through a triangular with back-to-back victories over Aberdeen Central and Sioux Falls Washington. The Kernels kicked off the day with an emphatic 8-1 win against the Golden Eagles, then followed it up with a 6-3 triumph over the Warriors, boosting their season record to an impressive 10-3.

Against Aberdeen Central, Mitchell showed remarkable depth, dropping only one match—a tight 10-7 decision in Flight 1 singles where Matthew Mauszycki fell to Dawson Pederson. The Kernels then stormed back, winning the remaining eight matchups. Simon Wiese delivered a flawless performance at No. 5 singles with a 10-0 shutout, while Dawson Adams controlled his Flight 4 match with a 10-3 victory over Wyatt Kiesz. Asher Dannenbring (No. 2), Cooper Star (No. 3), and Dayton Adams (No. 6) each added commanding singles wins to seal the dual.

The doubles action against Aberdeen Central was equally impressive, as Mitchell swept all three matches. The standout duo of Dannenbring and Dawson Adams dominated Flight 2 with a 10-0 win over Kiesz and Aric Tennant. In Flight 3, Wiese and Dayton Adams cruised past Grayson Rehder and Josiah Grandpre 10-1, while Mauszycki and Star battled to a 10-6 victory in Flight 1.

In the second dual against Sioux Falls Washington, the Kernels kept the momentum rolling. Cooper Star (No. 3), Dawson Adams (No. 4), and Simon Wiese (No. 5) were unstoppable, each posting perfect 10-0 singles wins. Dayton Adams added another highlight, taking his Flight 6 match 10-1 over Beckett Ruscitti. While the Warriors' Chase Rima defeated Mauszycki 10-0 at No. 1 and Eli Boyd edged Dannenbring 10-5 in Flight 2, Mitchell's depth proved decisive.

The doubles teams continued to shine, with Dannenbring and Dawson Adams notching their second win of the day in Flight 2, defeating Andrew Lewis and Ruscitti 10-1. Wiese and Dayton Adams followed suit in Flight 3, downing Jacob Van Rooyen and Corey Schneider 10-4. Though Mauszycki and Star dropped their Flight 1 match 10-4, the Kernels had already secured the team victory.

With a 10-3 overall record and a perfect 4-0 mark in ESD play, Mitchell is hitting its stride at the right time. The Kernels will look to extend their winning streak when they host a quadrangular against Vermillion, Pierre, and Yankton at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 4, back at Hitchcock Park. For fans and players alike, it's shaping up to be an exciting stretch of spring tennis.
