The hits keep coming.

The hits just keep coming for the New York Mets. As if a disappointing season wasn't enough, the latest injury news surrounding superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor has added yet another layer of frustration for a team that can't seem to catch a break.

Injuries have plagued both sides of the diamond for the Mets this year, and while they're not the only reason for the team's struggles, they certainly haven't helped. For a club that's already underperforming in nearly every aspect of the game, losing key players to the IL feels like pouring salt on an open wound—and there's no sign of relief in sight.

When the Mets are clicking, Francisco Lindor is at the heart of it all. While some fans have voiced frustration with his performance this season, there's no denying that he remains one of baseball's elite talents when he's locked in. That's why the latest update on his health was anything but reassuring.

"We won't know until we see the results of the MRI," Lindor said, per SNY. "We need to get it over the next 48 hours or so and once we get that, we'll get our doctors to map out a plan."

At this point, the Mets might be better off taking the cautious route with their All-Star shortstop. Unless the medical staff is fully confident he's healthy enough to play, there's simply no reason to rush him back. Lindor is still under a massive contract that runs through 2031, and pushing him too hard now could turn a bad situation into a long-term disaster.

There is one silver lining, however. According to John Flanigan, Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said the team isn't concerned that Lindor's injury could impact his Achilles. That's a small but significant relief for a franchise desperately searching for something—anything—to go its way.
