The Horned Frogs pick up their third Division I transfer of the offseason.

TCU men's basketball is making serious moves this offseason, and the Horned Frogs just added another key piece to their 2026-27 roster. On Saturday, the program secured a commitment from Texas Tech transfer forward Luke Bamgboye, a 6-foot-11 sophomore with a growing reputation as a defensive force.

Bamgboye's journey to Fort Worth has been anything but ordinary. He began his college career at VCU, where he earned Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team and All-Rookie Team honors as a freshman after starting 24 of 35 games. From there, he transferred to Texas Tech, where he appeared in 21 games with 12 starts, averaging 4.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and an impressive 1.7 blocks per game. His shot-blocking ability alone makes him a game-changer in the paint.

This past season, Bamgboye helped the Red Raiders to a 23-11 record and an NCAA Tournament berth, where they knocked off Akron in the first round before falling to Alabama in the second. Now, he'll bring that tournament experience to a TCU squad that also made a deep run, beating Ohio State before losing to Duke.

Bamgboye is the third Division I transfer to join the Horned Frogs this offseason, following guards Gavin Sykes (Long Beach State) and DJ Thomas (West Virginia). With his size, defensive instincts, and big-game experience, Bamgboye could be the missing piece as TCU looks to build on its recent success and make an even deeper March Madness push.
