The Maryland Terrapins men's basketball program has secured a significant piece for its future, adding a unique and potent weapon through the transfer portal. Head coach Buzz Williams continues to build his 2026 roster with experienced size, officially announcing the commitment of 6-foot-9 forward Maban Jabriel.

Jabriel arrives from Queens University in North Carolina, where he showcased a rare and valuable skillset for a player of his stature. While he brings the height to bolster the frontcourt, his game is defined by his shooting touch. Last season, the Canadian native shot an impressive 43.2% from beyond the arc. Although his attempt volume (48-of-111) kept him off the official NCAA leaderboards, that percentage would have tied for 15th-best in all of Division I.

Coming off the bench for an Atlantic Sun Conference champion and NCAA Tournament team, Jabriel averaged 7.7 points and 3.8 rebounds in just under 20 minutes per game. His length also contributed to 14 blocks and 24 steals, hinting at his defensive potential. While he is projected as a role player in the competitive Big Ten, his specific skill set fills a direct need for the Terps.

Maryland relied on guard Diggy Coit for three-point spark last season, but his 5-foot-11 frame presented defensive challenges. Jabriel offers a similar shooting threat without the defensive liability, providing Coach Williams with a versatile "stretch-four" option who can space the floor and defend multiple positions. He joins a growing transfer class that includes Bishop Boswell, Robert Jennings II, and Tomislav Buljan, as Maryland strategically retools its roster for the seasons ahead.
