Formula 1 fans have reason to celebrate—Sky Sports has officially extended its broadcasting deal with the championship through 2034, securing a long-term partnership that promises nonstop coverage of the world's fastest sport.

Legendary commentator Martin Brundle, a staple of F1 coverage since 2012, didn't hold back when reacting to the news. "It's a big responsibility," he said. "F1 is the third biggest sport in the world after the Olympics and the World Cup—but we happen 24 times a year, not every four years."

The deal, announced on May 6, locks in exclusive coverage for the UK, Ireland, and Italy. Since 2019, Sky has been the go-to destination for F1 fans, and this extension ensures that every practice session, qualifying round, sprint race, and grand prix will remain on their screens until the next decade. That's thousands of hours of live action, plus behind-the-scenes features, podcasts, and digital content that bring fans closer to the grid than ever before.

Brundle, who made the bold move from the BBC to Sky over a decade ago, reflected on the journey. "I took a bit of stick for leaving the BBC, but I saw Sky's commitment to F1. A dedicated F1 channel? That told me this was serious." Now, with at least 22 years of partnership on the books, his gamble has paid off.

The coverage doesn't stop at F1 either—Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy, and the Porsche Supercup are all part of the package, giving fans a full weekend of racing action. For Brundle, the key remains the audience. "They've got to trust us, believe in us. We tell the story as it unfolds, whether they like what we say or not. At the end of the day, that's who we're doing it for."

With this deal, Sky Sports cements its role as the home of F1 for years to come—and for fans, that means the green light is on for a thrilling ride ahead.
