I think Marquette women’s basketball head coach Cara Consuegra has a full staff once again.

On Thursday, the team announced that Joe Silvestri joined the team as an assistant coach.

“Joe brings an elite level of energy and high basketball IQ to our program,” Consuegra said. “He has been part of historic turnarounds and championship-level success, and his ability to connect with student-athletes makes him a great fit for our culture at Marquette.”

Silvestri comes directly to Marquette after a year at East Tennessee State, but he’s had a few assistant positions over the past few seasons. Before spending 2025-26 at ETSU where the Buccaneers shared the SoCon regular season title, Silvestri was at Tulane for a season. Before that, he was at ETSU for a three season run, helping the squad go from 6-22 in his first season there to 25-10, the seventh largest turnaround in NCAA history.

Before that, Silvestri also worked at North Florida, Florida International, and he had a four year stint on the sidelines at UCF. That’s his alma mater where he was also a student manager.

Silvestri is, roughly speaking, replacing Chaia Meier on the staff. That’s going by timeline, where Sheila Boykin is technically replacing Khadijah Rushdan, who disappeared from the Marquette bench mid-season. That’s if you’re counting things as filling spots in order, but for the moment, it’s hard to say exactly who is doing what in terms of job responsibilities.

Heck, it’s hard to say that just because Marquette’s roster might not be 100% solidified yet, but we’ve got blogs to write about that, so hang on…
