Marco Palestra is quickly becoming the name on everyone’s lips in Italian football. Widely regarded as Serie A’s top young talent, the 21-year-old is currently plying his trade on loan at Cagliari from Atalanta—and he’s turning heads across Europe.

Tottenham have been linked with a move in recent weeks, but they’re far from alone in the race. Inter Milan are also keeping a close watch on the versatile wing-back, and for good reason.

According to AtalantaOggi, La Dea are eager to have Palestra back in their squad next season. Despite growing interest from top clubs, Atalanta have no intention of selling unless an absolutely irresistible offer comes in. With his contract running until 2029, the ball is firmly in their court.

That’s disappointing news for suitors, but it also raises an important question: where would Palestra truly thrive?

England might be an exciting prospect, but it may not be the smartest move—at least not yet. The issue isn’t talent or tactics; it’s stability. And that’s exactly why Inter Milan could be the perfect landing spot.

The Nerazzurri have been a model of consistency in Serie A for years, and that stability is a big reason they’re on the verge of another title. There’s always a clear sporting plan at Inter, and players tend to develop under that structure. This summer, they could lose Luis Henrique and Denzel Dumfries, leaving gaps in the wing-back positions.

Enter Palestra. He can play on either flank, is comfortable using both feet, and would be a smart addition. He could serve as cover for Federico Dimarco on the left or step in as a starter on the right.

It’s worth noting that Cristian Chivu’s system at Inter relies on pace and high tempo—a style that suits Palestra’s energetic, up-and-down game. Unlike Simone Inzaghi’s more calculated approach, Chivu’s setup lets Palestra use his physical traits to full effect, taking on defenders and confusing them with his dual-footedness.

Even if Chivu isn’t at the helm forever, Inter’s tactical identity isn’t likely to shift dramatically. For a young player looking to grow in a stable, winning environment, Palestra might just find his perfect fit in Milan.
