Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Mansoor Delane addressed reporters in a Zoom press conference for the first time shortly after being selected 6th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft. He shared his excitement for joining the organization and becoming a contributor to the franchise's success.
"I'm being 100% honest. When they called me, I just started crying. I don't know who was talking to; I was saying, "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you." said Delane, "I remember, I just talked to Coach (Andy) Reid, Mr. (Brett) Veach. I remember those two specifically. Once I kind of wind it down a little bit, it was a great moment."
The Chiefs dealt their No. 9, 74, and 148th pick to the Cleveland Browns to move up to select Delane with the No. 6 overall pick. The standout defensive back didn't hold back his high expectations for Kansas City.

"I just really think there's no better opportunity. A lot of the top 10 teams are really not good. But that's not the situation here," said Delane. "We have a championship team. Just had one little down year, but we're right back to it. You know, with the expectations that are here, I'm expecting to live up to him, so I'm ready."
Delane led LSU with 11 pass breakups while starting 11 games, finishing with 45 tackles and 2 interceptions.
