Manchester United leads PSG in the race for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, per reports. The Portuguese is valued at $71M and expected to leave Italy this summer.

The summer transfer window is heating up, and one name is on everyone's lips: Rafael Leao. The AC Milan winger is widely expected to leave Italy at the end of the season, and two European giants are leading the chase. According to recent reports, Manchester United has surged ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign the Portuguese star.

Leao, now 26, joined Milan from Lille for $55 million back in 2019. Since then, he has experienced everything Italian football has to offer. With his contract winding down to its final two years, the Serie A side is reportedly ready to cash in on their prized asset. The sale would help replenish the club's finances and fund their own summer transfer plans.

Valued at around $71 million by Transfermarkt, the Almada-born forward has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe. TeamTalk reports that Manchester United is currently in pole position. The Red Devils are sitting third in the Premier League and have secured their return to the Champions League next season. Naturally, the club's leadership is looking to add elite talent accustomed to competing at the highest level. Leao fits that bill perfectly, having posted a solid season with nine goals and three assists for Milan.

However, United won't have it all their own way. PSG has been tracking Leao for years, and the connection runs deep. Parisian sporting director Luis Campos previously worked with the winger at Lille and is a huge admirer. He is reportedly eager to convince manager Luis Enrique to make Leao a key part of next season's plans. But at this stage, United holds a clear advantage, as PSG has yet to make a concrete move for the 43-cap Portugal international.

Bayern Munich is also keeping a close eye on the situation, but like PSG, the German champions are currently playing a waiting game. For now, the ball is firmly in Manchester United's court, and fans will be watching closely to see if they can seal this blockbuster signing.
