Tempers flared after Thursday night's FA Youth Cup Final as Manchester United Under-18s coach Darren Fletcher reportedly confronted FA officials over Manchester City's trophy celebrations—and the lingering controversy over where the showpiece was played.

The drama unfolded at the Joie Stadium, where City's youngsters snatched a dramatic 2-1 victory thanks to an 87th-minute winner from Reigan Heskey. Godwill Kukonki had earlier cancelled out Floyd Samba's stunning free-kick to set up a tense finish, but it was City who ultimately secured their fifth FA Youth Cup title.

Yet the result has been overshadowed by a simmering dispute over the venue. United had offered to host the final at Old Trafford, arguing the occasion deserved a bigger stage. But the FA kept the match at the 7,000-capacity Joie Stadium after City—who won the host draw—cited construction work at the Etihad Stadium as a barrier to moving the game.

According to BBC Sport, Fletcher expressed his frustration "forcefully" to FA officials during the post-match presentation. The former Manchester United and Scotland midfielder was reportedly unhappy with City's celebrations, which included individual shout-outs for players and coaches.

"I'm disappointed in the FA for everything that's gone around this game: for the location, for everything," Fletcher told reporters after the match. "You have to respect the opposition. But not when Man City take over an FA Youth Cup. It's an FA competition. It should never have been like that. I've never heard individual coaches be shouted out and every individual player."

The incident adds another chapter to the fierce rivalry between these two clubs, extending even to their academy sides. For Manchester City, the victory marks another milestone in their youth development program, but the post-match fallout ensures this final will be remembered for more than just the result on the pitch.
