Manchester City have set their sights on Pumas UNAM's dynamic midfielder Pedro Vite, following a productive scouting mission to Mexico. The 24-year-old Ecuadorian has quickly become a transfer target after the Premier League champions' recent talent identification trip south of the border.
City's interest comes as no surprise, given their global scouting network and the club's connection to Pumas manager Efrain Juarez, a former associate of the City Football Group. Juarez confirmed that City had inquired about several of his players, both from the youth setup and first team.
Pedro Vite's journey to the spotlight is a story of steady growth. He began his senior career at boyhood club Independiente del Valle in 2019, before moving to MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps in 2021. Over 140 appearances, he scored 15 goals and provided nine assists, winning three Canadian Championships and playing a key role in their run to the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup final.
Last July, Vite made the switch to Liga MX with Pumas UNAM, where he has quickly established himself as a regular. Starting in 26 of his 34 appearances, he has netted four goals while showcasing the playmaking ability, pace, and technical skill that City typically covet in midfielders.
With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Manchester City are moving quickly to finalize this potential deal. Vite's left-footed creativity and consistent performances make him an intriguing prospect for Pep Guardiola's squad, as the club looks to strengthen their midfield options for the seasons ahead.
