Michael Carrick's remarkable transformation of Manchester United has earned him a spot on the six-man shortlist for the Premier League's Manager of the Season award—a stunning achievement for a caretaker boss who only took charge in January.

The former United midfielder, who stepped in to replace Ruben Amorim, has won 10 of his 15 games at the helm (a 66.7% win rate), guiding the Red Devils from seventh to third in the table. Since his appointment on 13 January, no Premier League club has collected more points (33) than Carrick's side, and he's already secured a return to the Champions League. It's no surprise that United chiefs are expected to recommend him for the permanent job.

Carrick faces stiff competition from two managerial heavyweights: Arsenal's Mikel Arteta and Manchester City's Pep Guardiola, who are locked in a tense title race. Arteta is just two wins away from ending Arsenal's 20-year league drought, while Guardiola could claim his sixth Manager of the Season crown. Also nominated are Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola, who has taken the Cherries to the brink of their first-ever European qualification, Brentford's impressive first-season boss Keith Andrews, and Sunderland's Regis le Bris, who has kept the newly-promoted Black Cats comfortably clear of relegation trouble.

On the player side, the Premier League Player of the Season shortlist features eight stars, including Arsenal trio David Raya, Gabriel, and Declan Rice, Manchester City duo Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, Brentford striker Igor Thiago, and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. The winners will be decided by a combination of public votes and a panel of football experts.

With the season reaching its climax, both awards promise to be fiercely contested—and Carrick's unexpected rise to the shortlist is already one of the feel-good stories of the campaign.
