Mason Mount has set his sights on ending Manchester United's 13-year Premier League title drought, declaring the club has both the quality and mentality to challenge for the top prize next season.
The England midfielder, who joined United from Chelsea for £55 million in 2023, believes the Red Devils can finally bring the trophy back to Old Trafford after last lifting it in Sir Alex Ferguson's final campaign.
"I've won the Champions League already, so I have a goal of winning the Premier League," Mount said. "Can we do that? Yes, I think we can. It may seem a little bit far away, but you must have that mentality to really push yourself as a group."
United currently sit 15th in the table, but a victory against Liverpool on Sunday would secure Champions League qualification—a crucial step toward Mount's ambitious vision. The 27-year-old points to impressive results against top sides as evidence of their potential.
"We've shown what we can do against the big teams already: Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, so we've done it. Now it's about doing it on a bigger stage in the Champions League and doing it more consistently in the Premier League."
Mount's confidence comes despite a challenging season where he's started just 10 league games, with his last start coming against Newcastle on December 26. Questions have emerged about his best position under manager Michael Carrick's system, but Mount remains unfazed.
"I will always back myself. I know what I'm about and what I can bring. I love being a part of a massive club. It's my third season and it's flown. I'm a bit older now and I've got a bit more experience."
With an eye on the future, Mount is determined to be central to United's revival. "Hopefully, I will be a massive part of that moving forward next season. It's a goal: I want to win the Premier League."
For United fans dreaming of a return to glory, Mount's ambition might be exactly the spark this historic club needs to reignite its title charge.
