In a powerful display of football unity, Manchester United supporters are being urged to join their Liverpool rivals in honoring the memory of Diogo Jota during Sunday's Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Sunday marks ten months since the tragic passing of the Portuguese star and his brother Andre Silva in a car accident in northern Spain. Throughout this season, Liverpool fans have paid tribute to their beloved number 20 with applause in the corresponding minute of every match.

The proposal, submitted to the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST), calls for the Old Trafford crowd to join the visiting Liverpool supporters in their 20th-minute applause. This gesture of solidarity echoes a similar moment from four years ago, when Liverpool fans showed support for Cristiano Ronaldo after he lost one of his newborn twins during United's visit to Anfield.

MUST has encouraged fans to build organic support for the tribute within their own groups, believing such moments carry greater meaning when they emerge naturally from the fanbase rather than being directed by the club.

While the historic rivalry between these two giants has occasionally been tainted by tragedy chanting from a misguided minority, it's worth noting that Manchester United showed tremendous class with their own tribute to Jota at Anfield shortly after his passing last July. This Sunday presents an opportunity for both sets of supporters to remind the football world that respect for life transcends club loyalties.
