Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has delivered a mixed injury update ahead of the crucial Premier League clash with Brentford, with positive news on Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias but fresh concern over star midfielder Rodri.

The reigning Ballon d'Or winner has been sidelined since City's victory over Arsenal in April and remains a major doubt for the Brentford fixture. Guardiola revealed that Rodri "made a little problem" and "still doesn't feel completely comfortable," with the club set to assess him on Friday before making a decision on his availability.

"When he will be ready and fit and come back - this afternoon, hopefully - he will come back," Guardiola stated. "We will see this afternoon."

Rodri's absence is particularly concerning for City, as his influence on the pitch has been undeniable. The Spanish international started 11 consecutive Premier League matches earlier this season, forming a formidable partnership with Bernardo Silva that propelled the Blues into title contention. However, since picking up the injury late in the 2-1 win over Arsenal, City have struggled to maintain their rhythm without their midfield anchor.

Interestingly, it was the reverse fixture against Brentford that first signaled trouble for Rodri, when he pulled up after just 20 minutes in West London. That initial setback led to an extended spell on the sidelines, with the midfielder managing only three minutes of action over the following two months as he prioritized full recovery.

There is brighter news on the defensive front. Josko Gvardiol has returned to training after being out since the Chelsea game in early January, and Guardiola is optimistic the Croatian can feature before the season concludes. "He's good, he's training, he feels good - it's been many months out," the manager said. "Last season he was one of the important players for us."

Ruben Dias has also rejoined the squad after recovering from a knock sustained during the Carabao Cup final week in March, giving City a much-needed boost at the back as they prepare for a critical run-in.

For a team chasing silverware on multiple fronts, getting key players back to full fitness will be essential—and for City fans, the sight of Gvardiol and Dias returning to training is a welcome step in the right direction.
