The Villanova Wildcats' roster transformation continues, as sophomore wing Malachi Palmer has entered the transfer portal. The 6-foot-6 former four-star recruit from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, spent one season on the Main Line after beginning his collegiate career at Maryland.
Palmer provided valuable minutes for the Wildcats, especially stepping into a starting role when Matt Hodge was injured. As a starter in four games, he averaged 8.0 points per contest, showcasing his potential. For the full season, he averaged 4.6 points and 1.7 rebounds.
His departure leaves just two players from last season's team: Tyler Perkins and Matt Hodge. The current roster now stands at five players, putting significant pressure on head coach Kevin Willard to rebuild through the portal. With Palmer's late entry, the Wildcats' faithful will be hoping it signals that several new commitments are on the immediate horizon to bolster the squad for the upcoming season.
