A Louisiana high school baseball coach has been suspended for the remainder of the season following an on-field outburst that crossed a line from heated argument into outright spectacle. According to a report, Baton Rouge Central head coach Sham Gabehart was suspended by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) for removing articles of his uniform while disputing an umpire's call.

The incident, captured on video, shows Coach Gabehart emerging from the dugout and progressively discarding his hat and shirts onto the field during the argument, leaving him shirtless on the third base line before eventually calming down. This extreme display of protest has resulted in a significant penalty, sidelining the coach for all remaining games and practices, including any potential postseason play.

Central High School principal Brandon LaGrue confirmed the suspension in a statement, noting the school regrets not being able to inform parents directly first and calling it a "developing situation." The suspension deals a blow to a Wildcats program that has been a consistent state powerhouse under Gabehart's leadership, having won 25 games just last season.

Currently holding a 24-9 record, the team is in the thick of its competitive schedule, having recently split a doubleheader with Calvary Baptist Academy and narrowly losing a series to St. Amant.
